Hot-end coating
Today, world wide most of the container industry uses MBTC (Mono butyl tin tri chloride). MBTC was introduced in the late seventies and replaced tin tetra chloride and to a lesser extend, titanium tetra chloride. It was rather quickly replacing both conventional chemicals, because of its easier handling, combined with a much lower consumption.
Cold-end coating
The cold-end coating applied on the tin oxide creates the surface lubricity and gloss of the final glass container. Imacoat CE 50 is a micro dispersed aqueous solution and offers the industry a universal formulation in a concentrated form which needs to be diluted in a ratio of app. 1:100 with water before use.
